Top stars Rain and Lee Hyo Ri will meet again for a KB Card commercial after 5 long years.

So far, the two have starred in separate KB Card commercials. However, this coming March, the two are going to film together a commercial for the same brand, which is creating a lot of buzz within the entertainment world.

Rain and Lee Hyo Ri last performed together during a special stage for the Korean Flim Awards in 2003.

Mnet’s “Off the Rec,” which features Lee Hyo Ri’s life in 24 hours, finally aired its first episode last February 25 at 6 pm.

During this episode, Lee Hyori revealed that she has a favorite shirt that she wears whenever she is recording for an album.

“When recording, I wear my Janet Jackson-printed shirt. She’s my idol and whenever I wear this shirt, the recording goes well,” Lee Hyo Ri said.

Lee Hyo Ri also opened her ordinary life to public, which consists of visiting her family and playing with her nephew.

“I want you to see me with a new image. I think that I can change for a bit prejudices about me through this program,” Lee Hyo Ri said.

The show’s second episode was aired on the 26th.

Lee Hyo Ri who always has a smile on her face, actually cried on a program.

In the second episode of SBS Happy Sunday, “Change”, Hyo Ri’s transformation into a ugly fat girl became a hot topic of discussion. In the program, she went onto the streets after special make-up was done to “transform” her into a ugly fat girl in order to gauge citizens reaction towards her.

Hyo Ri, together with Kangin (who also had special make-up on him), host Shim Dong Yup, guests No Hong Chul and Son Ho Young took the subway. It was Hyo Ri’s first time taking the subway in nine years. All of them sat beside Hyo Ri as they observed how normal folks gauge Hyo Ri. For once Hyo Ri felt uninhibited and absolute freedom in public.

No one knew that Hyo Ri was in the same train as them. At this moment, Shin Dong Yup started asking passengers, “Do you like Hyo Ri?” “How do you feel about Hyo Ri?”. Some replied postitively, “Hyo Ri is the best, if she’s beside me, I would definitely hug her.” “So sexy, so pretty.”

But there were negatives as well. One of them said, “In the past, many liked Hyo Ri, but now it seems like they like So Hee from Wonder Girls even more right now. She should try changing her sexy image.” “She’s too fake”. “Already 30, she is getting old. She should change her image, it’s best if she can take a prolonged rest to recharge herself.”

Hyo Ri’s face started stiffening after hearing the negative remarks about her. She took it in her stride initially but she suddenly left her seat and got off the train. Faced with this unexpected turn of events, filming had to be stopped for Hyo Ri to sort out her emotions. But tears started streaming down Hyo Ri’s face at this point. It must be tough to hear this negative remarks and what more it’s about the age question which is really sensitive.

Shin Dong Yup came over to console her and explained, “Hyo Ri is crying because it’s her first time enjoying freedom and can’t adapt to the enviroment.”

Soon after airing on TV, many defended Hyo Ri, “How could they ask a question like this, it seems harmless but actually makes one feel uncomfortable.” “How could the production team embarass the artiste like that?”. It is unfortunate but artistes might think twice about coming on this show.

“Off The Rec Hyo Ri”

With sexy Korean diva Lee Hyo Ri’s daily life as a subject, MNet’s new television program, “Off The Rec Hyo Ri” released it’s promotional poster today.

This new program will see cameras and some 6mm ones being placed in Hyo Ri’s house. It will film Hyo Ri from the moment she wakes up until she goes to bed at night unedited and present this to the viewers.

The program because of its unique aspect in capturing what Hyo Ri does outside of her entertainer life has been capturing the attention of many even before it has aired in Korea. The poster was shot earlier this month and the pose which Hyo Ri took, was coped from a foreign artist work. With regards to the program, the production team said, “The program content doesn’t reflect what entertainer Lee Hyo Ri daily but what a normal Lee Hyo Ri does. That’s why we decided to use this poster.”

Hyori's pLans acting?

“My body does have flaws — it’s not a hundred percent perfect. I wanted to withdraw from the ’sexy star’ image, but it became exaggerated. I can’t even go to the public saunas for fear that people would be disappointed at my body in real life. [Laughs]”

After trading on her sex kitten image for so long, Hyori looks on her impending thirties:

“From here on, I’d like to become the ‘nation’s friend’ through my acting. All this time, I hadn’t really felt rivalry for anyone, but I found that I was most envious when Jeon Do Yeon won the Best Actress award at Cannes last year. After that, I became determined to become an actor worthy of recognition.”

Plans for the future?

“I’ll continue making dance music. In the next five or six months, I’ll put out my third solo album. In the past, I’d used lots of instruments for a full sound and fast beats. In the third album, I go for an acoustic sound and the vocals are simple. For overseas markets, I don’t put a lot of weight on not speaking Japanese or English that well. In the past ten years I’ve been a singer for half the time and an MC for the other half, and acted a little. In the future, I want to split my time equally three ways. As in the past, I want to continue setting trends, and incorporate sports too. Recently I went to America and watched a basketball game, and it wasn’t just sports — it was a show. I also have a lot of desire to pursue acting. I want to tear down people’s biases that Hyori is only a leading star but choose movies and television dramas based on strong stories, and start as a supporting actor. I think a character brimming with energy would be just right.”

REality tv show now?

Lee Hyo Ri will show a different side of her in Mnet’s show “OFF THE REC,” which starts airing on February 25 at 6 pm.

For the program, her house was filled with CCTV cameras to capture every movement she makes in 24 hours.

“At first, it was inconvenient but I eventually got accustomed to the cameras and forgot about them,” Hyo Ri laughingly said.
